Operational analysis for the St. Jakobshalle

Eduardo Elia
Basel, Switzerland

The St. Jakobshalle in Basel was officially opened in 1976 and fulfils a dual function in the city: on the one hand, it is open for use for school, university, and club sports and, on the other hand, it serves as a venue for major events in the fields of sport, culture, and events. After extensive renovation and expansion, the hall was reopened in 2018. Now, the multifunctional hall takes up a new role in the market.

In this context, actori was commissioned to conduct an operational analysis and to develop an operational concept. In particular, the performance mandate, budget, and finances as well as organization, staffing and processes were examined. After a market and competition analysis including an in-depth consideration of benchmarks in the DACH region, a new market positioning could be developed.

Finally, recommendations for action were derived for a new operational concept.

The project was implemented by Prof. Maurice Lausberg, Founder and Managing Partner and Amélie Strobel, Project Management.
