The State of Hessen has decided to strengthen and further develop its diverse cultural landscape with the "Masterplan Hessen Kultur". To this end, cultural actors, experts and interested citizens will work together in a participatory process to develop the basic lines of Hessens´ future cultural policy.

In cooperation with the agency ifok, which is managing the participatory part of the project, we are supporting the process strategically, conceptually and operationally. The project, which is scheduled to run until autumn 2022, is divided into different phases. A previously created "Kulturatlas Hessen” and an online survey kicked off the project. Within the online survey the following key topics have been identified:

  • digitalisation
  • preservation & responsibility
  • diversity & participation
  • commitment
  • cultural funding & evaluation
  • economic situation of artists
  • cultural education
  • networking & cooperation
  • culture outside of major cities

These nine topics build the starting point for the further process, in which they will be differentiated according to respective goals, fields of action and measures.

In the course of this, the digital kick-off event with 370 participants marked the start of the next phase of the project. The topics will now be discussed within nine workshops days at expert level. Subsequently, the results will be presented to the broader public within regional conferences. Here, further evaluation will take place. Opportunities for participation can be found on the website of the Ministry of Science and Arts, Hessen.
