Context
The municipality of Bubenreuth (approx. 4,600 inhabitants) lies between the Regnitz valley and wooded ridges. Known as the ‘metropolis of stringed instrument making’, it developed through the settlement of displaced instrument makers from 1949 onwards. Today, Bubenreuth is closely linked to Erlangen and the cities of Fürth and Nuremberg and attracts young families. Due to this past and in order to create a place for cultural events, educational opportunities and social activities, the municipality decided to build a socio-cultural centre in 2019. The Kulturhof H7, in the old town centre, comprises a historic property with a three-sided courtyard and sandstone ashlar residential building from 1881. Construction began in 2022 and the opening is planned for 2025. An operating concept was developed for the Kulturhof as part of the project.
Approach
The framework conditions and operational requirements were determined by analysing the data provided and conducting interviews with representatives of relevant interest groups.
Based on the insights gained, the next step was to describe and organise considerations regarding the offerings and use. In addition, considerations regarding the operator model and organisational structure were developed. This enabled a future organisational structure to be defined and the need for personnel resources to be derived. Finally, the income and expense items were calculated and the necessary subsidy requirements were derived.
